Journal Ethics
MM publishers India are committed in maintaining stringent standards in Publication Ethics. At all phases of the publication process, MM publishers and the Journal/Association are dedicated to fulfilling and respecting ethical standards.
In order to meet these requirements, we closely follow industry associations like the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME), which set standards and provide guidelines for best practices. A summary of our specific policies on duplicate publication, conflicts of interest, patient consent, and other topics are:
Editorial Policies
MM Publishers expect the highest ethical standards from their authors, reviewers and editors when conducting research, submitting papers and throughout the peer-review process.
Peer Review
MM Publishers uses a double-blind review approach, in which the identities of the authors and reviewers are concealed throughout the review process.
Redundant or duplicate publication
A duplicate or redundant publication is one that substantially overlaps with one that has already been published, is in press, or has been submitted to electronic media. (ICMJE). Duplicate or redundant submission refers to the submission of the same manuscript (or data) to multiple journals at the same time. International copyright laws, ethical conduct, and cost effective use of resources require that readers can be assured that what they are reading is original.
International Committee of Medical Journal Editors. http://www.icmje.org/recommendations/browse/publishing-and-editorial-issues/overlapping-publications.html
Submitted manuscripts should not have been published or currently submitted elsewhere. Duplicate publication is a violation of the APA code of ethics (APA Publication Manual, 2010) and will be grounds for prompt rejection of the submitted manuscript. If the editor was not aware of the violation and the article has been published, a notice of duplicate submission and the ethical violation will be published.
Retraction policy
All MM Publishers abide by COPE Retraction Guidelines.
Conflicts of interest
At the time of submission, policy requires that each author disclose any direct or indirect financial interests or connections, as well as any other circumstances that could raise questions about bias in the work reported or the conclusions, implications, or opinions expressed - such as relevant commercial or other sources of funding for the individual author(s) or the associated department(s) or organization(s), personal relationships, or direct academic competition.
If the manuscript is accepted, Conflict of Interest information will be communicated in a published statement.
Permissions to reproduce previously published material
Permission is required to reproduce material (such as illustrations) from the copyright holder. Articles cannot be published without these permissions.
Patient consent forms
The right to privacy of a patient must be protected. Please gather and maintain copies of patient consent forms on which patients or other subjects of your experiments expressly consent to the dissemination of images or other material that could identify them. If your research consent document did not clearly state this, please get it or remove the identifying material.
In the 'Methods' section of your article, you must include a statement stating that such consent was received. The Editors may seek a copy of any consent forms if necessary.
Ethics committee approval
All articles dealing with original human or animal data must include a declaration on ethics approval at the beginning of the Methods section. The following information must be included in this paragraph: the name and address of the ethics committee in charge; the protocol number assigned by this ethics committee; and the date of the ethical committee's approval.
The paragraph could read, for example:
"Ethical approval for this study (Ethical Committee N° NAC 207) was provided by the Ethical Committee NAC of Geneva University Hospitals, Geneva, on 12 February 2007."
Furthermore, as previously indicated, you must explicitly state that you acquired written informed consent from study participants for studies involving human subjects; please also review the most recent edition of the Declaration of Helsinki. Similarly, you must state the animal care and licensing criteria under which the study was conducted and report these in accordance with the ARRIVE (Animals in Research: Reporting In Vivo Experiments) declaration for experiments using animals. If ethics approval was not required, or if any deviation from these typical ethical standards occurred, please explain why. Please be aware that the editors may request proof of ethical approval. Please let us know if you have received permission from a National Drug Agency (or something comparable).
